The Last Stand Union City The Last Stand Union City

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars November 20, 2011

Good, but it has a couple setbacks...

...Those setbacks being what others have already mentioned: The sticky directional controls, and ESPECIALLY the lag that comes when a bunch of zombies break in from the ceiling. It starts off bad, with controls and menus being unresponsive, and as you try to fight through it, your character eventually freezes in place. I've died once and lost two survivors thanks to that vicious lag.

Now I just refresh the page and load my game whenever that happens and I keep doing it until the horde stops spawning unless it's in the streets. It kills the immersion, and as somebody said before me, it can be QUITE gamebreaking.

If it weren't for that mess, you'd be getting a ten from me.

Days 2 Die Days 2 Die

Rated 5 / 5 stars December 22, 2010

For those who say it's too hard...

...You're probably going about it the wrong way. I've tested and used a tactic that'll just about guarantee that you survive to the end:

Okay, from the start, what you do is save up to buy two tables. You're not going to be using them to keep the zombies out, but instead to stand on. Keep them close together and stand in between both. Now what you do is just hold down E and watch the zombies fall as you blast them away, mocking them as they try and fail to hit you. When the zombies get stronger and faster though, you'll need to make the switch to two of those block things instead (the final choice in the Barricade Menu, all you gotta do is lay 'em flat). For some reason, you can't repair your barricades before you start the next wave, so if one or both of them are damaged badly, REPLACE THEM. At that stage in the game, it's more than likely that the zombies will destroy it before the wave is over. Oh, and avoid the vending machines if you can. I don't think you can jump on those. And one final note, when you get mercs (which I'll get to in a minute), make sure that they're on top and in the center of the two barricades along with you, or they'll get slaughtered.

For weapons, you're gonna want to use the Desert Eagle when you get the funds (although I hadn't discovered the barricade trick yet when I first got it, so you might be able to do well enough with the handgun), then you upgrade to the MPU, then the AK-47, and finally, the Minigun, which should be primary around the end. To be safe for melee, get the bat. I used that a few times in my playthrough, but when I got the sword, I never had to use it. You can ignore everything else, but if you do try other weapons, NEVER pick the Grenade Launcher. It's a waste of money, and it'll get you killed with the slow (although interruptable) reload. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! And as far as ammo near the end is concerned, make sure that you keep your count of 7.62 bullets above 1000. That Minigun eats up ammo quickly.

As for the mercs, Ivy was my first pick when I got the money to pay for her. At that stage in the game, she was a big help for me. Then I got Louis, then I fired Ivy and hired Melisa, and around the end, I fired Louis and got Wendy. With the barricade tactic I mentioned earlier, those zombies didn't stand a chance.

Sure, this is a cheap way to beat the game, but it works. Now go ahead and kill some fuckin' zombies.

This is a nice game.

I love the horror atmosphere the music creates, and the gameplay isn't too bad either. But, thirty levels and no save feature?

Pretty Good.

It could have gone without that sudden transition about twenty seconds in though. But still, I like the dark, sinister feel this beat gives.

Beautiful.

Of all the ambient songs I've heard, this one has to be the best.
